- My sister has not a smart-phone. (Kız kardeşimin bir akıllı telefonu yok)

- My sister has not got a smart-phone. (Kız kardeşimin bir akıllı telefonu yok)

- Do you have enough money? (Yeterli paran var mı?)

- Have you got enough money? (Yeterli paran var mı?)

Yukarıdaki örnek cümle çiftlerinin hepsi de doğru. Ancak, have got – has got şeklinde kullanım daha çok İngiltere'de (İngiliz İngilizcesinde) tercih edilir.

Geçmiş ve gelecek zamanda:

Have got / has got yalnızca 'Present Tense' ile kullanılır. 'Past Tense' ve 'Future Tense' ile ‘got’ kullanılmaz.

- I have an idea for a new project. (Yeni proje için bir fikrim var) Present Tense

- I have got an idea for a new project. (Yeni proje için bir fikrim var)

- I had no idea what he was talking about. (Neden bahsettiği  hakkında hiç bir fikrim yoktu.) Past Tense

I had got no idea… veya I had gotten no idea… YANLIŞ

- I will have a car tomorrow. (Yarın bir arabam olacak) Future Tense

I will have got… YANLIŞ

 

(have to… / has to… have got to… / has got to…) 
Bir zorunluluk veya önem söz konusu olduğunda 

- I have to explain what this image means. (Bu görselin ne anlama geldiğini açıklamam lazım)

- I have got to explain what this image means. (Bu görselin ne anlama geldiğini açıklamam lazım)

- She has to do her homework. (Ev ödevini yapması gerekiyor)

 - She has got to do her homework. (Ev ödevini yapması gerekiyor)

Have lunch, have breakfast, have dinner, have a shower gibi sürekli eylemlerde yalnızca ‘Have’ kullanılır (bütün İngilizcelerde):

- Yasemin wants to have breakfast with us. (Yasemin bizimle kahvaltı yapmak istiyor)

have got breakfast... YANLIŞ

- Where did you have dinner? (Akşam yemeğini nerede yedin?

- I have a shower before getting into a swimming pool. (Yüzme havuzuna girmeden önce duş alırım.)
